CMS Design System

LiveLike Inc

In an ambitious and self-initiated undertaking, I embarked on the creation of a robust Design System tailored specifically for LiveLike's Content Management System (CMS). This venture was born out of a compelling company need, and over the span of two intensive months, I painstakingly sculpted an entire design ecosystem from the ground up.

Prior to this initiative, the CMS operated in a fragmented fashion, with different sections characterized by contradicting  styles, leading to a confusing and frustrating user experience. The inconsistent styling  became a significant UX problem which impacted both user satisfaction and usability.

To begin this transformational journey, I initiated an exhaustive research phase, auditing the existing product to identify common stylistic elements, fonts, and colors. This foundational research served as the bedrock upon which the reimagined design system would be constructed.

With the insights collected from the research, I embarked on the vital task of crafting a new color palette and typography. The overarching objectives were twofold: to enhance accessibility and to instill a sense of unwavering consistency throughout the CMS. These elements would become the cornerstones of an elevated user experience.

In recognition of the magnitude of this project, I understood the importance of securing buy-in from the product owners before proceeding further. Over the ensuing weeks, I diligently constructed prototypes and conducted meticulous comparisons, offering a tangible glimpse into how the revamped user interface would revolutionize the overall user experience once the design system was seamlessly integrated into the CMS.

The following months unfolded as a period of expansion and refinement. I tirelessly extended the design system, meticulously crafting reusable components and icons. Through further research, the design system grew to over one hundred components and thirty icons, which were built upon the twelve core colors and twenty text styles.  Since there was no previous precedent for a design system, it continued to expand as the redesign of the CMS pages took place.

The significance of this endeavor lay in its enduring impact. With a comprehensive repertoire of components, icons, colors, and typography in place, any future design iterations would effortlessly adhere to a singular, cohesive aesthetic. This undertaking not only rejuvenated the CMS, but also established a pivotal precedent for consistency, accessibility, and efficiency. It is a testament to my dedication to elevating user experiences and my unwavering commitment to the principles of design excellence.
